Aims

To provide knowledge and understanding of financial reporting procedures and the rules which govern financial reporting disclosure, recognition, presentation and measurement;

To develop knowledge and skills in financial statement analysis, including financial statement relationships, to enable performance of a fundamental analysis of a company’s performance thereby facilitating equity or fixed income security valuation in other modules.

Teaching and Learning Strategies

Hybrid delivery, with social distancing on campus.

Online asynchronous learning materials x 37 hours
To be delivered asynchronously using a combination of pre-recorded videos, assigned readings and interactive exercises, using the university’s learning management system (Canvas).

Face-to-face tutorials x 12 hours
These will be face-to-face, interactive and participative sessions which cover the wide range of material relevant to this module. Students will be required to attempt questions within the tutorials and feedback on those questions will be given.

Self-directed learning hours x 101 hours

Canvas will be used to support the delivery of this module in the following ways:

Videos and other interactive learning resources, replacing face-to-face lectures in the hybrid delivery mode will be made available on Canvas;
