Aims

To introduce students to football operations;

To enable students to understand how best to set up and manage backroom staff and the football department of football clubs;

To enable students to determine Key Performance Indicators and to measure and review progress towards these;

To understand and apply project management and other skills needed for successful football operations.

Teaching and Learning Strategies

Teaching Method 1 - Lecture
Description:
Attendance Recorded: Not yet decided
Notes: Standard lecturers will be delivered over a 2 day block period. Class discussions and activities will be encouraged. Students will organise and participate in study visits to clubs, and will compare and contrast these clubs before writing an individual write up on one aspect of the club’s operations.

Teaching Method 2 - Seminar
Description:

Notes: Guest speakers from within the football industry will add to the traditional lecturing format. An opportunity for Q+A with expert speakers will be provided.

Teaching Method 3 - Group Project
Description:
Attendance Recorded: Not yet decided
Notes: Opportunities will be provided for unassessed group work during the course of this module. Groups will look at case study examples of different aspects of the operation of football clubs and will report their findi ngs back to the other groups.
