Aims

To offer structured learning activities and to support students to choose and plan their learning under close supervision.

To introduce students to authentic research experiences, allowing them to pursue active enquiry and to develop research skills which will be transferable to academic and other professional settings.


Learning Outcomes

Demonstrate experience of engaging in an authentic research project.

Review and provide insight relating to the research area of interest, including formation of research questions, application of most appropriate reaearch methodologies and ethical considerations.

Evaluate findings and present rational conclusions.

Work effectively as part of a highly specialised team of academic and research staff.

Communicate and present research findings both verbally and in writing, taking into account disciplinary standards and expectations.

Reflect on learning experiences and plan for future professional development.


Syllabus

Content is defined by research area and specific project. Projects align to respective areas of research relating to Architecture, English, Music, Philosophy and Communications and Media.


Teaching and Learning Strategies

Authentic research activities as prescribed by Academic Project Leader and required by project brief. This may include assisting in the compilation of available literature. - Students will be immersed in a research environment working alongside and/or at the direction of Academic Project Leader on authentic research tasks as described in respective projects.
