Aims |
|
The aim is for students to generate a small-scale design proposal, based on a brief. The students proposal should show design development from an initial concept. The student should be able to develop a series of spaces each displaying different architectural qualities and responding in some way to the site/spatial adjectives. For students to demonstrate some understanding of site analysis For students to demonstrate some understanding of design process and idea generation. |

A detailed briefing document containing site plans and other important information is issued at the start of the project. Week 1: Site Study and Short Project (Cardboard chair) Week 2: Precedent Studies and Site Analysis Week 3: Design Drivers and Ideas (Interim Critique) Week 4: Materials, Tectonics and Process Week 5: Developing the Idea and Modes of Representation Week 6: Tutorial and Final Critique |

Assessment of design portfolios is undertaken by not less than two internal examiners and is then moderated by at least one internal examiner (normally the Head of School) who has not taught on the module. External examiners review all modules and programmes.
