Session 2017-18 | Level 7 FHEQ | First Semester | 15 |
Aims |
To gain knowledge in the use of parametric modelling tools digital / fabrication techniques and apply them in a design project |
Learning Outcomes |
Demonstrating knowledge and application of parametric tools (Rhinoceros and Grasshopper) |
Demonstrating knowledge and application of digital fabrication techniques (laser cutting, CNC milling, 3D printing) |
Demonstrating ability to present and communicate their design and fabrication process |
Demonstrating ability to apply different materials in relation to the fabrication technique |
Syllabus |
1 |
Students will explore 3 different fabrication techniques (laser cutting, CNC milling and 3D printing) and will develop and fabricate two scale prototypes and one final prototype in real size, by utilising parametric design tools. There will be workshops on software learning ( Rhinoceros and Grasshopper), weekly tutorials on the individual projects, 2 reviews (interim and final). |
