About

Personal Statement

I read English at Christ Church, Oxford, and art history at the Courtauld Institute in London, before returning to Oxford for my doctorate and coming to Liverpool as a lecturer in 2007. I enjoy thinking about literature in relation to art, design, landscape, and the history of taste; I am also interested in reputations, afterlives, and literary biography. My first book, Romantic Moderns, was published in 2010, and my short biography of Virginia Woolf is now out in paperback. 'Weatherland: Artists and Writers under English Skies' was published in 2015. I review for the national press, speak regularly at venues around the UK, and present arts documentaries on Radio 3 and 4. Please see www.alexandraharris.co.uk for links to programmes and events.
