    Personal Statement

    Peter is Deputy Head of Department. As Undergraduate Director of Studies and Admissions Lead for Communication and Media, he is responsible for many of the Department's student-facing activities, with specific responsibility for the undergraduate curriculum, admissions policy and the progress of undergraduate students throughout their studies in the Department.

    Peter is also Academic Lead for Recruitment, Admissions and Widening Participation for the Faculty of Humanities and Social Science.

    Peter has a long record of research focusing primarily on British broadcasting history and institutions, including the form, content and public contribution of programming, and on broadcast journalism. In particular, his work has embraced film and television documentary, television current affairs programming, and past and present issues in British public service broadcasting. Current research work includes representations of historical subjects in film and television documentary.

    He leads a second year module on Documentary (COMM231/ COMM282), as well as supervising undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations and postgraduate research students.
