A new book by Ric Williams

A new text book on the Oceans is provided by Prof. Ric Williams from the School of Environmental Sciences and co authored with Dr Mick Follows from MIT.  The book entitled 'Ocean Dynamics and the Carbon Cycle' is published by Cambridge University Press. The textbook provides an interdisciplinary view of how the ocean circulates, how phytoplankton grow and how carbon dioxide is exchanged between the atmosphere and oceans. Background chapters in ocean physics, chemistry and biology provide students from a variety of disciplines a platform to understand the ocean carbon cycle and its interaction with the atmosphere.

In completing the book, both authors would like to thank Kay Lancaster for meticulous work on the figures, the MIT modelling team for a linked set of model animations and many colleagues in the School and National Oceanography Centre for feedback and encouragement.
