Launch of the Health, Cultures and Societies MA
The University of Liverpool is launching is a brand-new master’s degree: the Health, Cultures and Societies MA.
The Health, Cultures and Societies MA provides an exciting opportunity to explore issues around health, illness, wellbeing, and medicine. Applications are now open to start this new master’s degree from September 2021.
Although housed in the Department of Archaeology, Classics and Egyptology, the Health, Cultures and Societies MA is a cross-disciplinary degree and supported by many subjects. Admissions Lead for the MA, Dr Georgia Petridou states that those studying the MA will benefit from:
research-connected teaching in disciplines including: Archaeology, Anthropology, Classics, English, Geography, History, Law, Literature, Music, Medicine, Psychology, Public Health, and Sociology, among others.
The new MA delivers the ideal training if you are seeking an academic career in the field of medical humanities. The master’s also provides a good foundation for careers in education, the cultural sector, health and therapeutic care, politics, and third sector industries.
The Health, Cultures and Societies MA is the master’s programme counterpart to the research and activity of the University of Liverpool’s Centre for Health, Medical and Environmental Humanities, which supports researchers working at the intersections of the natural and social sciences, arts and humanities. Graduates of this MA programme will have the opportunity to engage with the Centre’s external partners in the Liverpool and Merseyside region through collaborative research, student placements and internships.
